Welcome to Our Farm

Our Philosophy

Our mission is simple:  farming, educating and conserving...

Farming: Using sustainable crop growing methods such as no-till planting and cover crops. We grow well-known crops (soybeans and alfalfa) alongside ancient grains (emmer, spelt, einkorn) and other edible crops (bi-color sweet corn, strawberries, sugar-snap peas, squash). Beef cattle graze in pastures that have never been touched by a plow. The woods “in the back 40” shelter maple trees tapped for maple syrup. Black walnut and shag bark hickory trees offer beyond-organic nuts.

Educating: We offer educational presentations to help you learn more about farming. Maple syrup making, strawberry growing, beekeeping and growing/milling grains are just a few of the activities we explain.

Conserving: Implementing sustainable farming practices that work with the land, not against it. You will see undisturbed waterways for the water to flow cleanly through our fields without removing crop soil. Our strawberries enjoy underground irrigation that reduces water consumption.  The pond and stream are alive with fish, frogs and muskrats. As of 2016 eagles are nesting and raising their young here.

We do all of this on a 150 acre family-owned farm that has been in the Meuer Family since 1969. Farming is our way of life. We enjoy working the land, teaching others about farming and preserving our farmland for future generations.

We believe our farm is an outward expression of everything we put into it. In today's environment of "immediate results", conservation isn't always the first choice. It takes patience to allow the land to show you its resilience and beauty.

We are honored to have been selected by Sand County Foundation as the 2015 Leopold Conservation Award recipient here in Wisconsin. If you would like to know more about our conservation efforts or sustainable farming practices, please contact us. We are always available to show our property and teach others about the positive results of conservation.
